Your Job Description Is Like a Shopping List

For most of us, our job description is more of an outline – a set of expectations if you wish. It provides a rough overview of basic functions that you are responsible for. But for FocusOne Solutions, it’s so much more than that. A detailed job description helps our Operations Consultant screen candidates for your job. The more information we have about your open position, the better the candidate we can send to you for interviewing. Here are a few must haves for job descriptions:

  • Years of experience in area of work (i.e.: 3 years of critical care experience)
  • Types of patients and/or procedures on your unit
  • Nurse to patient ratios
  • Unit size
  • Type of documentation system used (i.e.: EPIC, Cerner, paper charting)
  • Areas of the hospital that the supplemental employee will be required to float to
  • Shift/scheduling requirements (including call if expected)
  • Licensure and other credentials required
  • Any type of specific skills required (i.e.: arrhythmia interpretation, cardiac drips, long term ventilated patients, wound vacs)

Additionally, there might be specific things that make your hospital or department unique. It might have to do with your culture, patient acuity, or even additional resources that are available for your staff. A collaborative assessment of your job description and dialogue about your specific needs will help to ensure high quality candidates get submitted! Want to learn more?
